How to Access Cisco Router using Telnet via Terminal



Basic Requirements needed:
  •  Computer/Laptop with an Ethernet port that can connect your cisco router
  • Telnet software (I use putty )
  • Cisco Router

Instructions:


Download and install telnet software (putty)
Host IP / Ip Address (router) ex. 192.168.0.254
Port: 23
connection type : telnet
  • Log-in using your router credentials (Username & Password)




  • After login router credentials successfully, you are now in USER MODE where you can quiry all available command in user mode by typing question mark sign "?"




  • Now to enter PRIVILEGE MODE type "enable" command & enter privilege mode credentials (User & Password),  you can quiry all available command in user mode by typing question mark sign "?"





  • Enter GLOBAL CONFIGURATION MODE type "enable" command & enter privilege mode credentials (User & Password),  you can quiry all available command in user mode by typing question mark sign "?"

here you can type your Cisco Router Configuration commands
